13-month calendar is not the "ideal" choice!!
13-month calendar is impractical simply because "13" is a prime number which is not divisible by any other number except: 1 and itself.
Everybody likes symmetry and 12 months can be easily divided into three 4-month university semesters, or four 3-month business quarters (also ideal for the four seasons - spring, summer, fall, and winter), or two 6-month semi-annual periods, and in situations we want to describe one and a half years (1.5 years). How could you describe 1.5 years if we were to use a 13-month calendar?
For example:
hmm, I know normally it takes 18 months for this certain project to complete (using a 12-month calendar), so it would take 13 months plus a half of 13 months (which is 6.5 months)... it would take 19.5 months for this project to complete (using a 13-month calendar). This is bizarre...
